Birthplace : Columbus, MS
Bats : R
College : UCLA

Tyson’s path to the big leagues is one of patience and persistence.  He was drafted twice by the San Francisco Giants.  The first time out of Spanish Fork High School in 2003 and again in 2004 while attending Central Arizona College.  He chose to continue his education and improve his baseball skills set at UCLA.  While at UCLA Tyson refined his pitching skills under coach John Savage and helped the Bruins advance to the regionals and super regionals.  His four pitch mix of fastball, curveball, change-up and slider gave him the ability to throw any pitch in any count.  This skill set made him a valuable asset throughout his collegiate and professional career.  His senior year he was selected to the All PAC-10 team and was drafted in the 7th round by the Philadelphia Phillies.  Tyson spent 5 years with the Phillies from 2007 to 2012.  He was called to the big leagues on Sept 30, 2012.  He made his MLB debut on Oct 3rd and threw 2/3 of an inning striking out two hitters.  Tyson was claimed off waivers by the Toronto Blue Jays and spent the 2013 season with them in double A and triple A.  The next year he signed a free agent contract with the Los Angels Dodgers and was a Southern League All Star.  Tyson pitched in Venezuela for the Tiburones de La Guaira in the 2011, 2012 and 2013 off seasons.  He pitched in two Caribbean World Series and was selected for the Venezuelan All Star game in 2013. Unfortunately Tyson’s baseball career ended while pitching in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization in 2014.  He tore his rotator cuff and has been unable to pitch at the competitive level he desires.  Tyson has a great understanding of both the mental and physical side of baseball.
